Fulfillment
You are fulfillment.
Everyone is looking to feel better. Whether we're aware of it or not, our sights are always set on moving towards greater happiness. For most folks, that search for happiness is entirely an outside hunt. Here's what we have to remember:
Fulfillment does not lie in any achievement or acquisition.
Yes, we may get a wave of happiness from these things, but they are fleeting. Soon enough, we notice that we're looking for the next best thing and we've begun a never-ending race, chasing after happiness.
It doesn't have to be this way.
It used to annoy me when people would say "happiness is found within." As someone who was constantly overthinking and very stressed, I was tired of people saying that. I didn't want to hear it or think it, I wanted to experience it. And that's where our practice comes into play.
Through the practice of Vedic Meditation, we experience fulfillment where it truly resides: within. This isn't "woo-woo" talk. This is quantifiable and experiential on three different levels:
Physically: Each time we meditate, the brain is flooding the body with feel-good chemistry. Twice daily, we're getting huge hits of dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and other endogenous chemicals. We are literally experiencing happiness from within on a physiological level.
Mentally: The nature of the mind is to always move towards greater happiness. It's always thinking up some new way to feel better. With Vedic Meditation, we aren't about concentrating or controlling the mind. We're all about innocently surrendering to the natural tendencies of the mind. And by letting the mind be, we allow it to de-excite in it's own time. The mind, always looking for greater happiness, naturally quiets down as a direct result of being in that state of de-excitation. Why? Because it feels good. In that moment, the mind can't think of anything else that could make it happier. And so it eases up. It's fulfilled. Less fighting, more fulfillment, easier mind.
Consciously: Each time we meditate we are giving ourselves the opportunity to experience deeper, more expansive states of consciousness. Whether we're aware of it or not, we're regularly going beyond that shallow level of awareness and into a deeper, more unbounded state of consciousness. And each time we dive, a bit more of that deep state of inner contentedness sticks with us in the waking state. The more we meditate, the more we find ourselves grounded in that state of pure Being.
All of this is why long term meditators are less reliant on outside things to bring them happiness. With daily access to true fulfillment on a conscious, mental, and physical level, life becomes a lot more abundant. When our cup runneth over, we are able to provide for others in sustainable ways and radiate that fulfillment for all to enjoy.
