Strength
As a collective, we're pretty obsessed with strength. The stronger and tougher, the better. There's a reason strength is lionized, but most folks are missing out on the true qualities of strength.
Rather than rigid attachment, true strength lies in your ability to let go.
Rather than guardedness, true strength lies in your ability to be open and vulnerable.
The phrase "survival of the fittest" is often attributed to Charles Darwin. Those words are actually from a man named Herbert Spencer. When we think of "the fittest", most people think it means the toughest, the most physically strong.
I prefer this actual quote from Darwin: "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."
That, in my opinion, is true strength. The one constant in our world is progressive change. Staying rigid and stagnant is a guarantee for weakness, burnout, illness, stress, and suffering. The best indicator of strength (and the degree to which we're able to thrive) lies in our ability to respond.
Stay adaptive, stay easy, stay vulnerable, stay open, stay strong.
