Experience

Want to be happier? Stop letting other people and situations control your experience.

It’s a very freeing thought, but for most people it’s easier said than done. When our nervous systems are constantly being hijacked by stress, we don’t have much of a say in how we respond…if any. If we don’t have adequate rest, then we don’t have an adequate amount of energy needed to adapt. If we can’t adapt, we don’t have much choice in how we experience life. Every change of expectation that gets thrown our way causes us to react; to stress. And it most certainly feels like the people and situations causing these daily changes of expectation are the ones who determine our experience.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

We can’t control how others behave. How others behave is simply a sign of where they’re at. Our power lies in being able to choose how we respond. We can’t expect our days to go exactly as planned, but we can become infinitely adaptive and meet any demand that comes our way.

And that’s why staying regular with our Vedic Meditation practice is such a game changer. By giving our bodies twice-daily access to deep levels of rest, we find ourselves being more adaptive and less stressed. If we’re less stressed, that means we aren’t letting other people and situations control our experience. No matter how anyone else behaves or what might get thrown our way, we find ourselves feeling okay. And that’s because we’ve recognized where our power lies.

Take charge of your own experience.
