Making Sense Out of Senselessness

What can we do in the wake of tragic loss? How can we make sense out of acts so senseless? It's common (and understandable) to rage, blame, fear, suffer, and anguish. How do we change the state of the world?

Change yourself.

This is where folks get tripped up. They wait for others to change. They expect others to do something and then compound their suffering when expectations don't come to fruition.

When it comes to suffering and injustice, we must take relevant, individual action in order for any universal action to occur. Every day, every moment, we have the ability to act. Yes, we can hold our leaders accountable and demand change in policy, but we must remember that any leader is simply a localized expression of the collective consciousness. We currently have a collective filled with stress, ignorance, reactivity, suffering, stagnation, focus on division, and a lack of tolerance for change. As a direct result we have leadership, policy, and governance that emulate those flavors of the collective.

What can you do? You can change your nervous system. Don't be another person that adds to the collective fear and suffering of the world. Get yourself a nervous system that is adaptive, that allows you to feel, grieve, and relate in a productive manner. We need folks that are able to process and accept emotions rather than bottle them up. We need more empathy, more listening, and more ability to see opportunities for unity.

What you'll notice is that when you change, a ripple effect occurs. When you're less stressed, everyone else around you naturally eases up. Steadiness, fulfilment, bliss, and respect are even more contagious than stress and negativity.

If you're waiting on the collective to change, you'll be waiting-and suffering-for a long while. We have a consciousness problem. The solution to universal issues begins with daily action on an individual level. If you're looking for change, take daily actions to be that change.
